Nikou McCarra, VP Communications

[email protected]

Hi! I am Nikou McCarra (pronounced knee-coo), your VP for Communications for the Harvard PTA. I have worked in marketing and design for over 15 years and I am obsessed with all things design-related. My life in a nutshell: I moved from Iran to Canada to USA when I was younger, went to high school in Katy, attended college at UT Austin, moved to Houston, attended grad school at UH where I met my husband, Travis, adopted our dog, had two boys, and finally settled in the Heights. Travis is a realtor, our oldest son, Kian, is in second grade, and little brother, Zayn, will start kinder at Harvard this year. And Wi-Fi (our 10-year-old ShihTzu) will continue to do nothing. I enjoy watching silly rom-coms, walking around our neighborhood, and eating tacos. :)

Hi! My name is Anar Abasov and I am excited to serve as the Secretary for the Harvard PTA. My wife, Sarah, and I love the Heights community and are excited to further contribute to its growth. Thanks to the Energy industry, my family immigrated from Azerbaijan to Houston during my childhood. I have called Houston my home ever since then. I hold a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from the University of St. Thomas in Houston. Sarah (an Aggie ) and I have three wonderful sons. Our oldest son will be attending Harvard Elementary School as a Kindergartener. We are excited about this new chapter in our life!

Laurie Tenny, Treasurer

[email protected]

Hi, my name is Laurie Tenny, and I am excited to be stepping into the Treasurer role on the Harvard PTA Board! As a new kinder parent, I joined the PTA Fundraising Team as an Auction Co-Chair; I am currently starting my third year as part of that team. I am a native Houstonian, and I have lived in this city on and off for most of my life. I have a finance degree from UH, and a graduate degree from the University of St. Thomas in business administration. My husband, Matt, and I married in 2010, and promptly moved to Australia as newlyweds for a work project. We moved back to the US in 2017 as a family of 4, and chose The Heights for it’s wonderful mix of family-friendliness, convenience, and uniqueness.

I’m currently a stay-at-home mom to Amelia (2nd grade), and Elijah (kinder), and I am looking forward to transitioning back into the workforce soon. My hobbies include painting, photography, caring for my ever growing assortment of house plants, and staying physically active

Quynhthy Bui, Parent Representative, PK/K Grade

[email protected]

Hi! I am Quynhthy Bui Marosi (pronounced queen-thee), your PreK/Kinder Representative for the Harvard PTA.  This is my first year on the board and I am so excited to be involved.  I recently helped with the Spring 2021 Fundraiser and developed a deep appreciation for how hard Harvard parents work to keep supporting our teachers and staffs at Harvard.  We have two incoming Kindergarteners, Lucas and Mathis.  My husband, Peter, and I are both first generation immigrants.  Peter came here for work after college from Hungary.  I came here during high school from Vietnam then stayed for college then grad school and decided to never leave.  We are both engineers in the oil and gas industry.  We have lived in the Heights for over 10 years and absolutely love our neighborhood.  We love to travel, camping, biking and hiking as a family.  I recently take up jogging so you may see me on the Heights bike and hike trail sometimes in the morning.  Our family is looking forward to being a part of the Harvard Community.

Maggie Dunham, Parent Representative, 1st Grade

[email protected]

I am so excited to serve as the 1st Grade Representative on the Harvard Elementary PTA. This is my first year on the board and I am looking forward to the experience.  I was very impressed with my introduction to Harvard Elementary with my daughter, Olivia, experiencing a wonderful kindergarten year and I cannot wait for her sister, Eva, to join the team in the 2022-2023 school year. My goal as grade representative is to create a strong and active community between teachers, parents and students, and to continually stay updated and involved. I cannot wait to meet all of you!

As a bit of background, I attended Duchesne Academy, LSU for undergraduate, and Albany Law School where I obtained my juris doctorate. I worked as an attorney in New York for 8 years, prior to moving back to Houston to start a family. We landed in the Heights in 2016 and I cannot think of a better community in which to live. My husband, Charles, is also an attorney. He is new to Houston and has settled in well.

Amy Seeburger, Parent Representative, 2nd Grade

Hello!  My name is Amy Seeburger and this is my second time to serve on the PTA board as a grade representative.  I have a 4th grader and 2nd grader at Harvard as well as a 3 year old at Zion Lutheran Preschool.  My husband, Dave, and I have lived in the Heights since 2009 and enjoy being active members of the community.  Before I had children, I was an 8th grade teacher and a high school counselor in Humble ISD.  I love walking to local spots in our hood, quick hill country weekend trips, and being involved in my childrens’ educational experiences. I am looking forward to a wonderful year at Harvard!
